Since 2016, I have been creating knives. As a person who always needs to be learning something, I looked at bladesmithing as an opportunity to learn and have a creative outlet. I started out with stock removal to learn the grinding, sharpening and fit and finish. Then after a couple years I won an online raffle and got my first anvil. This is when I started to actually forge knives and tried my hand at making Damascus.
Like most other knife makers I started making knives for friends and family. Which lead to other people asking me to make them things. I stared making hunting and everyday carry knives. After a year or two of those types of knives i started to dabble in making kitchen knives.
My last 10 years have been spent spent in the hotel and restaurant business. I had lots of opportunity to talk to professional chefs and line level cooks learning what it is they liked and disliked about the knives they use everyday. This helped me in design and function.
